Planting 2,500 trees and shrubs at Lansallos

Twice a year, volunteers plant thousands of native trees and shrubs in the Capertee Valley to assist the recovery of the endangered Regent Honeyeater bird.  This time the planting was at Lansallos B&B and 2,500 plants were planted.

The volunteers come from many different places, mainly Sydney area and occasionally overseas visitor. The last couple of plantings a group, Friends of Taronga Zoo, arrive in a large tourist coach.

Lots of lovely honey

we were given 2 frames of honey by a neighbour (thanks Tony) so we rushed around and gathered all the jars we could find.

Extracting the honey from the waxy comb requires a bit of warmth so, as the day was warm, extraction was relatively easy but a bit sticky.

We extracted about 5 kg and it tastes delicious.
